This twist on the classic rum cocktail brings a burst of fresh blueberry flavor, elevating both its taste and its look. Trust me, this drink will become your new go-to for any summer party or get-together.

Not only does this cocktail taste amazing, but it’s also visually stunning with its deep purple tones, making it an Instagram-worthy addition to your parties. Even better, because the recipe is so simple, you can whip it up in just five minutes.

ingredients

Blueberries – Fresh is best for ultimate flavor, but you can use frozen blueberries in a pinch. Just make sure to thaw and drain.

Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed lime juice adds a bright tanginess that ties everything together.

Raw Sugar – Adds just the right amount of sweetness, plus it tastes the best, in my opinion. If you prefer, you can use simple syrup, agave, or honey as the sweetener. Use ¼ ounce to ½ ounce, depending on how sweet you like your cocktail.

Mint Leaves – Fresh mint leaves are a must for that signature mojito aroma and flavor. Be sure to have an extra mint sprig on hand for garnish!

Rum – A white rum like Havana Club Añejo Blanc or Denizen Aged White Rum adds flavor without overpowering the drink. It is a great mid-range price point and they are excellent quality. Of course, purchase your favorite that works for your budget.

Soda Water – Also known as club soda or seltzer water, this gives the cocktail its refreshing fizz.  Unflavored soda water provides a light fizz to bring the cocktail to life.

Ice – Because no one likes a warm mojito!

tips and tricks

Use Fresh Ingredients – Of course, whenever possible, use fresh blueberries, fresh lime juice, and mint for the best flavor. Frozen blueberries can be used but thaw and drain them first.

Go easy on the mint – When muddling the mint, don’t crush it too much. A gentle press is all you need to avoid any bitterness sneaking into your drink.

Sweeten it your way – If you are not a fan of super sweet drinks, start with less sugar and add more if needed. Make it just right for you.

Chill your glass – Want an extra refreshing mojito? Stick your glass in the freezer for a few minutes before making your drink. Frosty and perfect!

can I Make this non-alcoholic?

Absolutely! Just leave out the rum and top the drink with sparkling water or a flavored soda for a refreshing mocktail.

can I use a different berry?

Yes! Raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries work beautifully in place of blueberries. You could even do a mix of berries for something unique.

what kind of rum should I use?

White rum is the standard for mojitos because it’s light and pairs well with the fruity flavors. For a slightly bolder and spiced flavor, you can try a dark rum to make a “dirty mojito.”
