Sweet Tea Mint Julep Punch

Sweet tea, mint simple syrup, and bourbon make this punch refreshing and bright!

ingredients

Mint Simple Syrup
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 15 to 18 mint leaves
Tea
  • 16 individual-sized tea bags you can use Lipton or Luzianne*
  • 6 cups water
Punch
  • 1 1/2 cups bourbon
  • Crushed ice
  • Garnish: mint springs and lemon wheels

instructions

  • In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, bring water, sugar, and mint leaves to a boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes before straining out the mint leaves.
  • Pour the syrup into a medium bowl and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • Bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Add tea bags and steep for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Remove and discard tea bags. Chill the tea in the refrigerator.
  • After cooling down the tea and syrup, add both to a beverage dispenser or pitcher with ice cubes. Pour in bourbon and stir to combine.
  • Serve in glasses filled with crushed ice. Garnish with mint sprigs and lemon wheels.

notes

*if you prefer, you can also use 1 gallon sized tea bag or 4 family-sized tea bags
