ingredients

chile-infused vodka
  • 2 to 3 halved fresh chiles I used a combo of Serrano and Fresno
  • 1 cup vodka or gin
cocktail
  • 1 cup chile infused vodka
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh grapefruit juice
  • Coarse kosher salt
  • Ice cubes
  • Grapefruit wedges or slices
  • Chile pepper slices

instructions

  • Combine chiles and vodka or gin in a mason jar or airtight container. Let infuse for up to 1 to 3 hours, checking the mixture every hour to test the level of heat. When the flavor is where you want it, strain out the chile peppers and seeds, discarding them.
  • Use the grapefruit wedges to moisten the rims of two rocks glasses. Rim the glasses with coarse salt. Set aside.
  • Fill 4 cocktail glasses with ice.
  • Divide infused vodka or gin between the salt-rimmed glasses.
  • Top with grapefruit juice. Stir to combine.
  • Serve.
